Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in the West Island of Montreal is an example of a "sleepy" place. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is an extensive section that extends from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island, although this does not exist. Brugel was raised in Courtice in the vicinity of Oshawa Ontario. She had a dream to become professional, however because of a huge development spurt, she exceeded the size of her dancing partner. She admitted in an article released by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall and wears heels. As I grew older than my male companions, I stopped. In the case of Brugel, it was her encouragement from one of her drama teachers from high-school that led her to take up acting. The teacher who suggested she try her hand at a character in the annual school production. Following a trial it, she was cast as the lead actress on stage in Anne of Green Gables. She was awarded an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program, where she graduated on the 20th of January, 2000. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Since then, Brugel's participated involved in more than 60 productions, both in smaller and big ones. She received the greatest attention when she was cast in her role as Rita in the award-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 which was only seen occasionally.
